Randy Noonan

Randy Noonan

Randy Noonan heads the labour law and employment section of the firm’s practice.  He has a broad background in acting as counsel in arbitrations, administrative disciplinary hearings and court proceedings on a wide variety of labour and contractual issues.

After serving as in-house legal counsel for the British Columbia Teachers Federation for almost 11 years, Randy has developed a thorough knowledge of school law, particularly as it applies to school employees.  He has represented teachers and school support staff in school board disciplinary hearings, grievances and arbitrations, as well as professional disciplinary bodies.

In the earlier parts of his legal career, Randy was a law clerk for the Chief Justice of the BC Supreme Court, an associate at Swinton & Company (now Miller Thompson) and worked in England with the “City” firm of Linklaters and Paines.  He was also one of the early designers of the Law Courts Public Education Program in Vancouver.

Richard Hewson

Richard Hewson

Richard Hewson leads Noonan Hewson Law Office's impaired driving and criminal defence practice group. He focuses on the defence of impaired driving, proceeds of crime, drug trafficking and assault cases throughout British Columbia. He has defended cases successfully in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, as well as in the Okanagan and Thompson Valleys, in Northern British Columbia and in the Kootenays.

Richard has been called to the bar in British Columbia and the Yukon Territory.
Richard believes: "The presumption of innocence and the requirement of proof beyond reasonable doubt are two key principles of Canadian criminal law."

Richard believes thorough preparation wins criminal trials. Preparation starts with the initial contact with the client, and continues to the end of the trial. It includes investigation of the facts, research into the legal issues and development and execution of trial strategy.
