Born in Nelson, B.C., Ken Wyllie attended
high school in Castlegar before studying at the University
of British Columbia and later at the University of Otago,
Dunedin, New Zealand. He holds a Commerce Degree and graduated
in Law in 1975, articling with Colin Withnall, Q.C., before
returning to Canada in 1979. He articled with Don Niedermayer
in Cranbrook and was called to the B.C. Bar in 1981.
He established his practice in Nelson, B.C., with an office
in Castlegar, practising as Wyllie & Okros for 18 years
until David Okros’ retirement in 2001. Since that time,
he has been practising as Wyllie & Co., centred in Castlegar,
and focusing on criminal defence work.
Wyllie is past president of the Kootenay Bar Association
and is a former county representative serving on the Canadian
Bar Association.
“I see legal services becoming increasingly specialized.
In personal injury, malpractice suits and ICBC claims, the
insurer now seems to proceed on the basis of ‘your
fault’ insurance, thus attempting to minimize personal
injury awards. I believe that the pooled expertise and experience
of the MacIsaac Group will make the difference in maximizing
payout entitlement for injured parties.”
Ken resides in Robson, B.C., in the family home built by
his grandparents. He has been active in the community, serving
as trustee on a number of community organizations and as
a Director of the Regional District of Central Kootenay for
seven years (1989-1996). Leisure activities include skiing
with his children (until they left him behind) and boating,
camping and back country horse riding with his spouse, Sandra. |
